Construction 101: Introduction to the Built Environment

A 3-week summer construction and workforce readiness program for students ages 16-20. Daily classroom instruction and hands-on learning Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch provided. Students earn an OSHA-10 Construction Certification Card, a 20-Hour Certificate of Completion toward the Massachusetts Plumbing & Fuel Gas Tier One Program, and a Certificate of Learning Achievement (CLA) issued by NECEC. Each student receives a starter safety package: hard hat, safety glasses, work gloves, tape measure, and NECEC program shirt. Held at the NECEC training facility in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Lochinvar Service Training + IMCC Certificate

A two-part educational and certificate event held in conjunction with Frank P. McCartin Co., Inc. — Lowell's wholesaler of industrial electrical, plumbing & heating supplies since 1927. Part 1 (10am) — Servicing Commercial Condensing Boilers (taught by Robb Ellis, F.I.A. Woburn): Commercial boilers require a disciplined approach to combustion setup, flow verification, and control configuration. This course covers service procedures specific to larger fire-tube and water-tube condensing equipment, with emphasis on protecting the heat exchanger, verifying gas input, and preventing repeat nuisance faults. Part 2 (12pm) — IMCC: International Mechanical Code Certificate Class (taught by Gary Gauthier, ICC): Participants are introduced to the 2021 International Mechanical Code (IMC) as applied in Massachusetts, with a focus on jurisdiction, code flow, and areas of responsibility. The session provides a clear understanding of how the IMC integrates with state and local enforcement, along with key foundational concepts and practical application. Each attendee receives an ICC Certificate of Attendance. Lunch included.

NEWWA Backflow Prevention Device Tester/Inspectors Training Course

NECEC in association with the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA) offers the Backflow Prevention Device Tester/Inspectors Training Course. This 32-40 hour certification program includes hands-on testing and field simulation, backflow device identification and troubleshooting, cross-connection control principles, and Massachusetts compliance requirements. Designed for licensed plumbers, apprentices, mechanical contractors, and facility maintenance personnel.
